Sad news has shaken Poland today. Artur Sarnat, a legendary goalkeeper for Wisła Kraków from 1993 to 2002, has passed away at the age of 54 after a brief battle with a serious illness.
Born on September 20, 1970, Sarnat inherited his love for Wisła from his father, Ryszard, a former striker for the club. Although he began his career at Wawel Kraków, his most memorable years were spent at Wisła, where he played 257 matches, keeping nearly 100 clean sheets.
Sarnat was a key figure in the team's defence, helping them secure two Polish Championship titles (1999, 2001), as well as the Polish Cup, League Cup, and Super Cup. He also delivered standout performances in European fixtures against clubs like Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Real Zaragoza. In addition to his time at Wisła, Sarnat played for clubs such as Diyarbakırspor (Turkey), Polonia Warsaw, KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, and Korona Kielce.
The entire Wisła Kraków community extends its deepest condolences to his family. Rest in peace, Artur Sarnat.
