Wisła Blind Football Kraków kicked off the second season of the PGF Blind Football League with two home victories, placing them at the top of the table after the first round.
Held on April 5–6 at MOS Kraków Zachód, the opening round featured teams from across Poland. Wisła faced Bielsko and Wrocław, securing a 2–0 win over Rekord Bielsko-Biała BF thanks to first-half goals from Martin Jung and Marcin Ryszka. Despite several chances, including shots off the post, Rekord’s strong defence and goalkeeper kept the scoreline from growing.
The second match against Śląsk was intense. Early on, MVP Paweł Zinkow suffered an injury that will sideline him for several weeks. Despite the setback, Jung stepped up, scoring after a solo run early in the second half. Wisła held on defensively, despite wind affecting ball audibility, to secure a second victory.
“This season feels different—teams are more tactical and defensive. Only five goals were scored in the round, compared to seventeen last year,” said Jung. Ryszka added, “We’re proud of these results, especially against a top rival like Śląsk.”
Now, the team prepares for the demanding May round in Wrocław, which includes four matches in two days. The medical staff will focus on recovering Zinkow and Mateusz Krzyszkowski, who is returning after a five-month break.
Congratulations to Wisła – and best of luck in the next stage!
