In anticipation of their return to league competition, Wisła Kraków played their first friendly of the new year. Their opponents were Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała, a side competing in Poland's second division. The match ended in a 2-1 victory for the visitors.
The First Half
Wisła Kraków began the match with a mixed line-up, featuring both first-team regulars and reserve players, including the debutant Baniowski. The game started evenly, as both teams sought to establish control and find their rhythm on the pitch.
In the 5th minute, Wisła’s Sukiennicki took the first accurate shot of the match, but it was comfortably saved by Podbeskidzie’s goalkeeper, Wieczorek. Shortly after, in the 19th minute, Podbeskidzie had a promising opportunity from a set piece. Although the shot was well-placed, Letkiewicz in Wisła’s goal rose to the occasion and made a crucial save.
Moments later, Enis Fazlagić delivered an excellent pass to Zwoliński, who expertly finished, putting Wisła ahead 1-0. The White Star took the lead, energising their performance. However, Podbeskidzie capitalised on a lapse in Wisła’s defence shortly afterwards. Letkiewicz misjudged a pass to Alfaro, who failed to control the ball and missed the chance to link up with Biedczyński. Podbeskidzie pounced on the error, and Lisiewicz found the back of the net to level the score at 1-1.
The visitors from Bielsko-Biała continued to press forward, creating another strong chance from midfield. Their attacking momentum paid off as they managed to score again, taking a 2-1 lead over Wisła.
As the first half progressed, Wisła made early adjustments, with Letkiewicz being substituted for Broda. Dawid Szot came close to equalising with a well-taken effort, but Podbeskidzie’s defence stood firm and blocked his attempt.
The first half was lively and action-packed, with both sides creating opportunities. Wisła pushed hard to equalise, while Podbeskidzie worked to consolidate their advantage. As the whistle blew for half-time, the scoreboard reflected a 2-1 lead for the visitors.
The Second Half
At half-time, manager Mariusz Jop made several changes, bringing on ten players for Wisła Kraków. This shift injected fresh energy into the team, leading to more attacking plays near Podbeskidzie's goal. However, the one element missing was effective finishing. Players like Kiakos and Rodado had their chances but failed to convert them into goals.
In the 58th minute, Rodado managed to put the ball into the net, but the goal was disallowed by the referee, leaving Wisła still chasing the equaliser. Just two minutes later, Kuziemka came close to levelling the score, but Podbeskidzie’s goalkeeper made an excellent save to deny him. Wisła’s relentless attacks continued, and in the 67th minute, Starzyński delivered a well-placed cross to Kiakos. However, the Greek defender missed another opportunity to score.
Compared to the action-packed first half, the later stages of the game saw the tempo shift slightly, with more play concentrated in the midfield. Despite this, Kraków maintained control of the match, ensuring that the visitors posed no real threat to their defensive line at R22.
As the final minutes approached, Wisła continued to press for an equaliser, creating chances both from open play and set pieces. However, the determined goalkeeper from Bielsko-Biała held firm, denying the hosts any chance to rescue a point.
