After a second half dominated by VAR drama and crucial penalty decisions, Wisła’s relentless attacking pressure proved too much for Kotwica’s defence to handle. The hosts seized control of the game, overturning their deficit and securing a well-earned victory.
The First Half
Kotwica narrowly avoided an early setback, as Wisła burst out of the gates with relentless pressure. Within just two minutes, the visitors were under siege—Wisła carved out two golden opportunities inside the box. Still, Kozioł produced a crucial save, and the rebound rattled off the post. The home side maintained their dominance, forcing Kotwica to retreat deep into their own half, desperately fending off wave after wave of attacks.
Completely overrun in midfield, Kotwica struggled to string together meaningful passes, let alone create chances. Yet, despite Wisła’s relentless shooting, the breakthrough remained elusive. Before the half-hour mark, Zwoliński’s aerial duel set up Rodado for a one-on-one with Kozioł, but once again, the Kotwica keeper came out on top. The deadlock persisted, and just before the break, Igbeme squandered a golden chance—left unmarked in the penalty area, he fired over the bar. Moments later, the whistle blew, sending both teams into halftime with everything still to play for.
The Second Half
The second half erupted into action with an unexpected surge from Kotwica. Letkiewicz was forced into a reflex save, but the real drama unfolded moments later. After a VAR review, the referee spotted a handball by Biedrzycki inside Wisła’s penalty area and promptly pointed to the spot. Favorov stepped up and made no mistake, coolly converting in the 51st minute to hand Kotwica the lead.
Wisła wasted no time in responding. Immediately after the restart, they surged forward, their captain leading by example. Just four minutes later, Uryga powered home a brilliant header from Poletanović’s lofted cross, levelling the score emphatically.
The momentum remained firmly with Wisła, and in the 64th minute, VAR intervened once again—this time on the other end of the pitch. The referee reviewed a potential handball in Kotwica’s box, and after a brief check, another penalty was awarded. Rodado stepped up and slotted it home with composure, completing Wisła’s comeback.
The final stretch descended into chaos as both teams sought to capitalise on any defensive lapse. Wisła created far more chances but lacked the finishing touch to put the game beyond doubt. In stoppage time, more controversy followed—Mikulec was brought down from behind by Favorov, prompting another VAR review. The referee brandished a red card this time, reducing Kotwica to ten men. Moments later, the final whistle blew.
