Thursday evening means one thing—another match for Wisła Kraków in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers. This time, Wisła Kraków faced the Slovak team FC Spartak Trnava. The first leg of the two-legged tie ended with Spartak’s victory, 3-1.
Promising Start
From the beginning of the game, the host team tried to dominate Wisła Kraków. In the 6th minute, Spartak had a chance to take the lead after a possible handball by a Wisła player, but the penalty was dismissed.
Wisła Kraków managed to break through Spartak’s defence. In the 26th minute, Baena penetrated Spartak’s back line, and Rodado finished the move by scoring a goal, putting Wisła ahead 0-1. From that point on, Wisła Kraków held the lead in the match.
The 'White Star' players successfully defended their advantage. Spartak Trnava had a chance to equalise through Philip Azango, but after the first 45 minutes, the half ended with Wisła leading 0-1.
Role Reversal
The second half began with changes in the host team. Spartak Trnava took possession of the ball, eager to score. Their efforts paid off in the 47th minute, as they equalised to make it 1-1. Spartak Trnava didn’t allow Wisła’s players to leave their half of the pitch.
Less than 15 minutes later, Spartak Trnava broke through Wisła’s defence again, with Philip Azango scoring to give them a 2-1 lead. The White Star attempted to strike back, but Spartak’s defenders held firm. Wisła Kraków lost their lead in the match. Eight minutes after their second goal, Slovak player Michal Ďuriš scored, putting FC Spartak ahead 3-1.
Wisła’s players fought until the end to reach Spartak’s goal. In the 90th minute, Ďuriš created a dangerous chance in Wisła’s penalty area, but the Slovak player hit the crossbar. After an additional 5 minutes, the game ended with Spartak’s victory, 3-1.
