WISŁA KRAKÓW 1 - 2 SK RAPID: Wisła's fightback falls short

A first match against SK Rapid ended up with Wisła Kraków’s loss. The Viennese club won 1:2.Marc Carbo's shot for Biała Gwiazda was credited as an own goal by Rapid's Maximilian Hofmann. Next week, R22 players will play the return leg to decide their fate in the Europa League qualifiers.

Strong Start 

Rapid Vienna imposed high pressing from the first seconds, creating dangerous situations, but Anton Chichkan made effective saves. Kraków Wisła managed to maintain possession for long periods, but this didn't translate into goals. Rapid continued to attempt to win the ball back high up the pitch, though their shots were off target.

In the 24th minute, Wisła had a chance to open the scoring, but Jarocha’s shot was too weak. In the 31st minute, Baurgstaller of Rapid had a clear opportunity, but Chichkan saved again. Rapid finally scored in the 37th minute when Jansson exploited some space. Just before halftime, Bendeguz Bolla of Rapid received a red card for a rough tackle on Sukiennicki.

Comeback Attempt

Wisła came out attacking after the break, but in the 53rd minute, Seidl extended Rapid’s lead to 0-2. The home side fought back, and substitutions energised their play. In the 79th minute, Marc Carbo scored a consolation goal for 1-2 after a deflection off Hofmann. Rapid effectively disrupted the game, maintaining their lead until the final whistle. Kraków Wisła will aim to overturn the deficit in the return leg in Vienna, striving for a place in the Europa League qualifiers.
