In a midweek clash during Matchday 27 of the Betclic 1. Liga, Wisła Kraków triumphed over Chrobry Głogów with a 2–1 victory! Goals for the home side came from Ángel Baena and Ángel Rodado.
The First Half
The first goal of the evening, however, went to the visitors. Chrobry launched a swift counterattack down the right flank, and after an intervention from Wisła goalkeeper Letkiewicz—who had come off his line—the ball unfortunately ricocheted back to a player in black. He calmly squared it to Szymon Bartlewicz, who slotted it into an empty net, opening the scoring in the 6th minute. From that moment, Wisła was forced to chase the game.
The visitors effectively "froze" the match during the next phase, retreating into a deep defensive block and waiting for counterattack opportunities. In the 24th minute, Ángel Baena decided to take matters into his own hands. After winning a physical tussle in midfield, he surged forward with the ball and unleashed a fine strike that levelled the score at 1–1! The Spaniard’s shot grazed the crossbar before finding the net—but crucially, it did go in. From that moment, the match was reset.
In the 33rd minute, Zwoliński came tantalizingly close to putting the hosts ahead with a clever effort aimed low at the post. However, Paweł Lenarcik pulled off a sensational fingertip save to keep his side in the game. Wisła maintained control of the match for the remainder of the half, though there were no further changes to the scoreline. More drama was still to come after the break!
The Second Half
On the hunt for more goals, Manager Jop’s players returned to the pitch for the second half with an unrelenting attacking mindset. The only change from the dressing room was Jesús Alfaro replacing Olivier Sukiennicki. After a few minutes of home pressure, the tempo at Reymonta Stadium dipped somewhat, with attacking moments becoming scarce. The solution came in the form of Ángel Rodado, returning from injury.
That decision turned out to be a masterstroke, as just three minutes after coming on, Rodado found the net. With a trademark long-range strike from outside the area, our striker gave Wisła a crucial 2–1 lead in the 61st minute! With nothing left to defend, Chrobry had no choice but to change their approach and push more players into Wisła’s half. Coach Łukasz Becella also sought fresh legs, making several substitutions. From around the 70th minute, the Orange and Blacks showed signs of improvement, creating more chances—but crucially, they lacked the finishing touch.
The referee added six minutes of stoppage time, and right at the start of it, Patryk Letkiewicz produced a brilliant save to deny Dawid Hanc, sending a strong message to his teammates that the match was far from over. Ultimately, Wisła held firm and, most importantly, secured another vital three points!
