On the Winning Streak: #ODRWIS 1-2

On Sunday, April 13th, Wisła Kraków travelled to Opole to face Odra in a hard-fought encounter. In a match filled with momentum shifts and high-stakes moments, it was Wisła who ultimately came out on top, securing a 2–1 away victory and further strengthening their position in the league table.

The First Half
Wisła Kraków began the match with clear attacking intent, immediately pressing forward after the first whistle. Within the first 40 seconds, Angel Rodado fired a shot that tested Odra’s goalkeeper, setting the tone for a lively opening. In the 5th minute, Kacper Duda took a free kick that was initially deflected wide, but moments later he delivered Wisła’s first corner straight into the box. Odra responded with a swift counterattack in the 7th minute, as Kobusiński broke through one-on-one with Letkiewicz, only to lose control at the crucial moment—Uryga stepped in to clear the danger. Soon after, Czapliński was fouled by Duda, giving Odra a dangerous free kick. They came close to scoring, but a poorly executed final shot saw the ball go wide.

The match became more physical and balanced around the 11th minute when Żembło and Duda clashed heads—thankfully, neither was injured. As both sides vied for control, Wisła continued to dominate set pieces. Duda sent in multiple corners, including one that led to a flick-on from Mikulec and another sequence where Rodado’s powerful strike was delicately tipped away by Odra’s goalkeeper - Haluch. Wisła maintained pressure, gradually closing Odra into their half. However, some misplaced passes—such as one from Igbekeme—halted their momentum briefly. In the 26th minute, Rodado’s free-kick struck the wall, and the rebound shot flew just wide. Mikulec then had a go but couldn’t keep his shot on target.

Wisła's persistence finally paid off before the break. Rodado’s near-post free-kick earned yet another corner, which Duda delivered perfectly to Mikulec, who rose to head home and give Wisła the lead. Not even a minute later, Rodado doubled the score, finishing off a pinpoint cross from Alfaro to make it 0–2. With this commanding lead, Wisła Kraków headed into the dressing room at half-time in full control of the match.

The Second Half
Odra Opole began the second half with a couple of changes to their line-up, while Mariusz Jop opted to keep the same eleven on the pitch for Wisła Kraków. Just three minutes in, Czyżewski sent in a cross that Letkiewicz attempted to catch, but the ball slipped through his hands, allowing Odra to pull one back and make it 1–2 in the 48th minute. Spurred on by this, Wisła immediately launched a counterattack, with Baena narrowly missing the target with a shot that whistled past Haluch’s post.

The goal gave Odra a noticeable boost in confidence, and they began to press forward with greater intent, capitalising on occasional defensive lapses from Wisła. In the 52nd minute, Kobusiński nearly found the equaliser after Uryga's mistake at the back, but the Wisła defender recovered swiftly to block the attempt. The next phase of the match was marked by a series of set pieces, mainly in Odra’s half, but the tempo of the game began to slow. Around the 65th minute, Odra once again came close to levelling the score with a dangerous free kick, but Letkiewicz made a strong save, clearing the danger. A minute later, Baena tried his luck from a distance, but the ball just evaded Alfaro, who couldn’t reach it in time.

In the 69th minute, Mariusz Jop made his first substitutions of the match, replacing Alfaro and Duarte with Kiakos and Zwoliński. The final 10 minutes were tense, filled with turnovers and quick changes of possession, as Odra pushed for an equaliser while Wisła looked to kill off the game with a third goal. Five minutes of added time were signalled. In stoppage time, Kiss orchestrated a slick move, passing to Kiakos, who skilfully weaved past Odra’s defenders before feeding Zwoliński, who found the back of the net—only for the goal to be ruled offside. Odra immediately launched a final counterattack, threatening Wisła’s goal once more, but the Kraków defence held firm. The match concluded with a hard-fought 1–2 victory for Wisła Kraków, securing three crucial points and extending their winning streak.
