Mariusz Jop after #WISPOL: We don’t like to lose.

League leaders Wisła Kraków fell 1-2 to Polonia Warszawa, with the visitors proving slightly better this time. Head coach Mariusz Jop summed up the match during the post-game press conference.

“From my perspective, today’s game was very even. Our opponents were in good form - it’s clear that their recent winning streak is no coincidence, as they had won their last two matches before today. The conditions were very difficult for us, and we conceded the first goal far too easily. I’m referring to our positioning in the wall - that’s something we can fix quickly, and it’s a situation that simply shouldn’t happen. Later, there was a lot of fighting, a lot of transitions. We had our moments and situations where we could have made better decisions and finished more effectively - chances that came after good recoveries.”

“The opponents were very efficient. Apart from the free kick, the one clear opportunity they created ended in a goal. In that respect, they were better than us and deserved the win. We definitely don’t like losing, and we don’t want to lose, but games like this sometimes happen. It doesn’t change our approach or the way we work. The players will now have some time to rest before returning to hard work.”

“I also think credit must go to our opponents, they were aggressive both in transitions and in defense. They stayed compact and didn’t give us much time on the ball, especially in the second half. A few times, when we tried longer passes, the ball went out of play. We want to eliminate that, but those are basic things. Sometimes it’s stress, sometimes fatigue, sometimes other factors that lead to small inaccuracies.”
