On a festive Saturday, Wisła Kraków secured a 1–0 home victory over Pogoń Siedlce! The lone goal of the game was tucked away by Federico Duarte.
From the first whistle, Wisła Kraków surged forward; however, the visitors carved out the opening chance. After winning a footrace, one of Pogoń’s forwards found himself one-on-one, only to be denied by an outstanding save from Patryk Letkiewicz.
In the second quarter, Igbekeme unleashed a powerful strike from distance that forced the away keeper into a sprawling clearance over the bar. Minutes later, Poletanović tried his luck from a free kick, but his curling effort flew well over the crossbar.
The midfield battle was fierce throughout, with frequent fouls and stoppages. Gradually, Wisła’s attacking dominance became more evident. Following a scramble in the box, Biedrzycki, making a late run into the area, nearly slotted home but blazed his shot wide. The deadlock was finally broken in the 39th minute when a beautifully worked corner was met by Duarte from close range to give the hosts a 1–0 lead. As the referee blew for half-time at 45 minutes, Wisła went in ahead and geared up to hunt for a second goal after the break.
The Second Half
The Biało-Niebiescy kicked off with the intent of finding an equalizer. Coach Adam Nocoń’s side tried to exploit their speedy wingers, but a well-drilled Wisła backline allowed very little. In fact, despite leading, it was Wisła who came closest to doubling their advantage when Rodado’s effort was brilliantly blocked by a defender in the box.
Around the hour mark, the score remained deadlocked at 1–0. Wisła’s coach brought on Zwoliński and Duda from the bench to help solidify the win and seek a cushion. In the 73rd minute, Zwoliński nodded a pinpoint delivery narrowly wide, only to see keeper Jakub Lemanowicz beat it away at full stretch.
As the clock ticked toward full-time, tension mounted. In the 83rd minute, Kiakos had a gilt-edged chance after a clever Rodado pass, but his strike was again comfortable for the goalkeeper. The referee added six minutes of stoppage time, during which Pogoń piled forward in search of an equalizer. Wisła held firm, withstanding the late pressure to secure a one-goal win and claim all three points!
