After nearly a decade of service, Adrian Filipek has concluded his mission within the structures of Wisła Kraków. In recent months, he served as coordinator for the U-19 and U-17 groups, while also overseeing talent development and supporting the process of introducing the most promising players to higher levels of training.
A decade with Wisła’s youth
Filipek joined the club in 2015 and over ten years worked with teams across almost every age category in the Academy, from U-14, through U-15, U-16, U-17, U-18, up to U-19. At each stage, he shared his knowledge and passion, nurturing new generations of players. His expertise and results led to increasingly responsible roles, including serving as Head of the Academy’s sporting department and acting as a link between the junior teams and the first squad. In June 2019, he also became the first head coach of Wisła Kraków’s reactivated reserve team, adding senior-level coaching at the IV liga level to his responsibilities.
He was also part of Wisła Kraków’s first-team coaching staff, working with Maciej Stolarczyk and later, briefly, with Artur Skowronek during the club’s Ekstraklasa spell.
Success with youth teams
Among Filipek’s most notable achievements is the runners-up finish in the Polish U-18 Championship (CLJ U-18) in 2021, when his side claimed the silver medal. A year later, Wisła again fought at the top of the CLJ, finishing just off the podium. Under his leadership, the team consistently ranked among the league’s best, playing an attacking style and competing for the highest goals.
Many talented players developed under his guidance and now play for Wisła’s senior team, including Kacper Duda, Jakub Krzyżanowski, and Mariusz Kutwa. Earlier, he also worked with other Academy graduates such as Piotr Starzyński, who likewise debuted for the first team. Filipek emphasized not only football development but also character building and a professional approach to sport.
Thanks and new challenges
Wisła Kraków extends its heartfelt thanks to Adrian Filipek for his ten years of dedication to the club and his invaluable contribution to the development of young players under the White Star. The work he carried out over the years, from coaching youth teams, through leading juniors and reserves, to coordinating the talent development process has left a lasting mark on Wisła Kraków’s Academy.
We wish him success and fulfillment in the next stage of his career. We are confident that the experience he gained at Wisła will serve him well in his future coaching and organizational challenges. Thank you, Adrian!
